New 5% Communications tax

At the March 1st board meeting the village trustees passed a new usage tax on telecommunications and internet connections. The 5% Simplified Municipal Communications tax will apply to all communication services in the village. The tax is extimated to generate 45-$50,000 annually.
The village adopted the ordinance as an effort to compensate for decreases in sales and use taxes in the past year.
