The "warm" summer season is behind us and fall and winter and quickly encroaching upon the town of Arthur. With the cold weather comes downtown Arthur's most festive holidays which include Halloween and Christmas.
This year Bruce Wood from Dick's Pharmacy is going to once again grace us with the beautiful downtown Pumpkin house. Each year Bruce and dozens of volunteers carve hundreds of pumpkins to decorate the Dick's house located on Main Street in downtown Arthur. Each pumpkin is carefully placed and lit throughout the last couple of weeks at the end of October. It is definitely something to make a point of visiting.
The Arthur Area Chamber of Commerce is also proud to sponsor the 3rd Annual Downtown Christmas Celebration and Lighted Christmas parade this year. During the Christmas celebration downtown businesses will stay open late and feature specials and sales throughout the day. There will also be free hot chocolate, sandwiches, and even a visit from Santa and REAL live reindeer. All of this is topped with a lighted Christmas parade down Main Street once it gets dark.
Lastly, don't forget to visit The Great Pumpkin Patch located just a few miles south of Arthur. The Condill family has grown their small pumpkin patch into a wonderful family destination that has been featured in Martha Stewart magazine and boasts over 100 different gourds all hand selected by their local horticulturist Mac Condill.
